Hormones and Harmony; Guide to being An Awesome Teenage Girl (1)

CHAPTER 1: PUBERTY

Ever watched inside out? You know that red button in Riley's brain that read puberty? I bet we'd all want to destroy that button. As girls anyways.

Puberty is great at first. It's also very much terrifying. Your body is growing and changing. You don't understand at first but as people explain it to you, the changes start to register at the back of your mind. You start to think, 'oh, this is completely normal'. It is.

Then you start to enjoy those changes.

Your breasts are growing. At first you think it's a tumor or you're sick but they tell you it's normal. Your mammary glands are growing. You become fascinated. You monitor the growth. You compare. You size them up everyday. You're excited to buy bras, especially if you have older sisters living with you. At a point, you become obsessed with them. Their size, their shape, their feel. You needn't worry much though, despite whatever anyone tells you about them, they're beautiful just the way they are.

The next thing you notice is the attractions. The stage when you start to discover sexuality. Ordinary friendships start to become more. Your view of everything becomes distorted. That's when you start to lose your innocence (at least that's what I thought). This stage freaks a lot of girls out and rightfully so. it's because you get to experience a lot more emotions than you normally do; anxiety being the biggest.

Next thing comes the crushes. Everyone has a crush. It's normal because you'd get attracted to someone eventually. This topic is a broad one so I'd explain it in another chapter of this series.

After crushes comes relationships. I'm not just talking about dating. I'm talking about relationships with everyone in your life. Your parents, your family, your friends, your neighbors, your community, your schoolmates, your teachers, your leaders, your religious leaders and basically everyone around you. As you go through puberty, you feel your mature enough and you make some very bad decisions. It's fine, these are inevitable. I'd also explain how to manage these relationships in another chapter.

Then comes the Sex. It's a huge part of puberty. When you reach this stage, you start to get the urges. You begin to get familiar with being horny and that very uncomfortable warmth in your body. You can decide to ignore these urges or act on them. If you decide to act on these urges, you'd turn to sex. It's a huge and important topic I can't finish in this chapter.

I know something's supposed to come before the sex and no, I didn't forget. It's menstruation. That time of the month. To the lucky ones, all you do is bleed out for a few days and you're back to normal. For the rest of us, we'd have to go through PMS (Pre-Menstrual Syndrome), menstrual pain, headaches, horrible leg cramps, loss of appetite or a humongous appetite, to name a few. We dread that period. Worse, pills, hot water, all that crap doesn't work. So, we suffer through it. Yeah, being a female is hard.

Overall, there are many interesting things about going through puberty. It's that part at which you start to transition into adolescence and as a female, I know it can be really hard. That's why I started this series to smoothly glide females who feel alone through life. There's strength in unity and so, I would like us to bond over these chapters and find strength to go on in life.

If you think I missed somethings in this chapter, I'm not perfect you know, just comment down below. I hope you enjoyed the chapter.
