Mystery Of the Cosmos; Episode 2

EPISODE 2

"The harvest from the lower prefecture has reduced this year so we'll have to find a solution to that and also......." The Governor giving her report droned on. Lesker bit back his yawn and feigned attentiveness. Jeir was the one who handled the meetings in Kohra's absence, not him. He was just there as a formality.

He was a bit annoyed at her for disappearing when she received the elf's letter without telling him. He was left to deal with the governors and their children alone. He didn't honestly know how she handled all 300 governors without developing a migraine.

"She's back" he heard a whisper in his ear. He looked at Jeir, knowing she was the one who had spoken to him. He sighed discreetly in relief and stood up. The governor talking halted when she saw him rise.

"Well, I'm sorry to cut this short Ladies and Lords but if you would excuse me, I have to attend to something important. Lady Jeir would handle the court in my absence" He said and left the throne room. He could hear Jeir groan but he didn't turn back.

He went directly to Kohra's bedroom where he knew she would be. He saw her writing letters and sending them through her magix when he got there.

"You're back"

"Hmm, aren't you supposed to be in court?"

"I left when Jeir told me you were back. Where did you go to?"

"The mount of Konora. Alea asked me to look for the wizard of the tempest. He was a horribly impatient fellow but he was cooperative at the end"

"I know you Kohra. You have a good heart but you aren't one to just go somewhere if someone asked you to. Why did you go?"

"I was curious. What I found was more than I bargained for. Here, can you translate this?" Kohra replied, handing him a scroll. Lesker's brows furrowed as he read through the scroll.

"I can read the rest but that strange writing over there I don't recognize. Not even with my god language. What's that?"

"It's apparently in a language called English. It's from another planet. One that I think is planning an invasion on ours. This scroll was written approximately a thousand years ago. It's not much of a prophesy as it is a warning"

"So, what are you going to do about it?" Lesker asks, siting beside her on the bed.

"I've summoned all five kings and the elf elders of the two tribes. I'll tell them and we'll plan something from there"

"Kohra, you're retiring. We were going to explore the cosmos together. I've had enough of you trying to solve other people's problem whilst risking your life. Let others handle it"

"Lesker, you surprise me by talking like this. Terria is the strongest planet in this solar system, filled with a lot of powerful beings......"

"Let them handle it then if they're that powerful....."

"You don't get it, do you? They were able to perfectly infiltrate this planet in the past and eviscerate hundreds of gods. Worse, the planet is divided because the original gods are gone. If they can attack Terria, what makes you think the rest of the cosmos is safe?"

"I knew you would say that. I just wanted to see your reaction that's all" Lesker said with a smile.

"Tch, You've been spending too much time with Jeir. Come here" Kohra said and pulled him closer, claiming his lips.

It had been two days since Myer and Aeion had left their mother by the lake. They had seen no sight of their father either and by their mother's instruction, they were to leave. Myer was torn but he knew his mother had a good reason to give them those set of instruction. The only problem was Aeion.

He hadn't spoken to Myer in the whole two days. He barely ate and was always standing by the window side, staring and waiting for Tia to come back. Myer didn't have the heart to tell him that their mother might be dead.

"Aeion, it's time to leave"

"I'm not going anywhere"

"Mother said we have to go if father hadn't returned in two days. It's been two days. I've packed up all our stuff. We have to leave here"

"No! I'm not going anywhere, I'm waiting for....."

The door opened and a figure drenched in blood walked in. Both boys were frightened but calmed down after seeing who it was.

"Father" Aeion cried and jumped on the man. Myer stood at the side and watched the two interact. Both of them took after their mother mostly but had human traits like their father.

The origins of their parents were largely unknown as they didn't tell their children anything. Even though they were terribly curious, they had stopped asking.

It was only two days ago that they knew the origins of their mother, only now, they didn't know where she was.

"Myer, where's your mother?"

"She's......gone. We were attacked by a monster fish by the lake side. She defended us and told us to run. She asked us to wait here for you and if you didn't come in two days, we were to leave to the kingdom of Ataliya to find a scholar named Lesker"

"I see. Are you packed, Myer?"

"Yes father"

"Then you must leave immediately. Both of you. If your mother asked you two to run, then, she must've had a good reason"

"No father, I'm not leaving you. Mother's gone. You can't go too" Aeion protested loudly. Tears welled up in his eyes but his father could only give a sympathetic smile.

"Aeion, my little man, you'll have to be strong. I have to go save your mother. Don't worry, I'll find you two after I've found her and we'll be a family again"

Somehow Myer didn't believe him but he didn't say anything. He gave his father a look and got a grim smile in return. 

"Here. Mother was painting it before......."

Aeion said, handing him the painting. 

"Uhn, but it's not finished yet....."

"Well, if you find her, she might complete it. This is for goodluck"

"Alright Aeion. I'll take good care of it. In return, you have to promise me you'll follow your brother and not cause any trouble"

"Okay father, I promise"

"That's my boy. Myer, come here. Here's an enchanted map. It'll take you to the monastry. Remember your mother's rules. You boys have to stay strong for us"

"Yes father" Myer answered, collecting the map.

"Father, before we leave, can you at least tell us your name and who you are? Also, tell us about mother"

"Sure. Your mother is a humanoid sea creature. Her race is known as the Selkrie. I, on the other hand, am a human. But, I'm different from the other humans. I come from an entirely different planet. My name is Jared. That's all I can tell you to keep you two safe. I want you two to know I love you from the depths of my heart and I want to keep you two safe at all costs. That's why I'm sending you two away"

"Okay father. Till we meet again" Aeion said with a bright smile.

"Till we meet again"
