CHAPTER 36

Matthew Park was facing a dilemma of his own. He wasn’t planning to be involved, to be honest. He only wanted to watch from afar. But, what the hell is up with this situation? Why was he roped into being her domestic doctor?

“Dr. Park, is anything wrong?”

“No. Let’s begin the session”

“Okay”

Well, the reason didn’t matter anymore. He was the doctor and she was the patient. It was his duty to understand and help her. There was nothing else to it.

“So Miss Catherine, can you tell me what’s wrong?”

“I’m seeing someone right now and that person encouraged me to get help. I was called back home against my will but since I would be here for a long time, I decided to get a domestic doctor. To be honest, I’m not sure what’s wrong with me”

“Alright. Let’s start with this then. Can you tell me your most traumatic memory?”

“Most traumatic memory?”

“Yes. Our experiences in life affect the type of people we become so I order to find what you’re going through, I just need to find what trigger it. In most cases, it is usually PTSD and extreme depression that the person is going through”

“Oh, okay. Then, here I go”

—————

Catherine was part of a mafia family. She was always protected and the rule of the family stated that the strong ruled over the weak. Everyone in her family was strong. Everyone, except her.

How could she explain to them that she was being bullied? Those childish, harmless pranks that had turned twisted, carving a scar into her heart.

And the cause of it all, the person who was supposed to be her best friend, Giselle. It was because of her that all those kids started bullying her.

Catherine never admitted it but she was always jealous of Giselle. Giselle was always accepted wherever she went, she was pretty, she was intelligent and most of all, she had the impressive talent of controlling the crowd. If anyone opposed Giselle, before long, they would change their mind. She did it all with a warm smile on her face. Giselle rarely conceded.

But through her bad experience, she met someone so kind and amazing, it overwrote whatever happened to her. They stopped bullying her because of him but it didn’t mean she got her best friend back. She thought she would be satisfied, happy but she just couldn’t do it. She knew if Devon had to choose between her and Giselle, he would choose Giselle.

So, when it happened, she only felt surface guilt. She recorded all that had happened in her diary as a form of stress relief. She never knew it would be the thing to expose her.

One day, her mother was cleaning through her room and found her diary. Like a curious mother, she looked through it. Finding out what had happened to Catherine, she talked to her father, Christopher Denver about it. Christopher was the former head of Ignition before he was jailed.

Needless to say, her parents were mad. They made a complaint to the school and made it a big issue but because they had already graduated, it didn;t have much impact. The other students who were a part of it were scolded by their parents heavily and they all apologized to her. She could see the contempt in their eyes as they did. It was embarrassing and sad for her. Nobody actually cared. They all thought she was using her family’s power to bully them.

Giselle wasn’t scolded or punished. She didn’t bully her with the rest of them. She could care less. Catherine’s parents noticed she was unsatisfied. Giselle’s parents were different from the rest. They could use their influence to get the rest to apologize but it would never work on them. Giselle technically didn’t do anything so they would be unreasonable if they went to demand an apology.

Christopher kidnapped Giselle. He had men watch over her and who knew her security was lax only when she was around Devon. They nabbed her then and took her to a secure location.

Catherine was unsure of what to think when she found out. They didn’t do anything extreme to her, just lock her up. So, she went to see her after two days of capture.

“Hey”

Her greeting was ignored. Ever since the day they fought, Giselle never spoke to her unless necessary.

“I’m sorry my dad had you kidnapped. It’s all my fault. I’ll talk to him to let you go. You only have to apologize to me and that’ll be it”

“Apologize to you? Hah! You must be dreaming”

It was the first time she had spoken to Catherine in a long time yet her voice was so cold. She was angry.

“You had your parents kidnap me because I refused to talk to you? Who deserves an apology here?”

“Why are you putting all the blame on me? You’re a manipulative, selfish bitch! You’re the one who made them bully me”

Giselle gave her an incredulous look and just started laughing. It was a cold mocking laugh that chilled Catherine to the core.

“You’re calling me manipulative? You know what your kind is called? A green tea bitch!”
