CHAPTER 27

“Thank you. Mum, I know you’re busy so I’ll just pop in and say hello to dad. I have things to do. Oh, I’m also taking Joshua to stay with me for a while”

“Why?”

“I just want to spend time with him. Is that not allowed?”

“Fine. Your dad is in the garden”

“Alright. Goodbye”

Giselle left the office and slammed the door shut. Her relationship with her mother has always been lukewarm at best. Communication was almost impossible and both of them liked to force their opinions on each other, thinking they were both right. It was frustrating for both parties.

Finding her dad was easy. He was having tea in the garden and Joshua was playing next to him. Giselle called a maid to pack up Joshua’s things while she went to say hello.

“Good morning Dad”

“Gigi, is that you? Come hug your dear daddy”

Giselle giggled and went to hug her dad. Her relationship with her father was much more intimate and she liked spending time with him.

“I heard all about it. How’s your leg now?”

“It’s all better”

“That’s good. Sit down. You there, bring us more tea”

“Yes sir!”

They exchanged pleasantries and sipped tea like a normal family. It was harmonious until David frowned.

“Gigi?”

“Yes dad?”

“I heard you’ve been hanging out with that white boy from the mafia. Is it true?”

“Well, he saved my life. I should find a way to repay my benefactor, shouldn’t I?”

“He did hun? Well, I can’t argue with that. I just want you to be careful. The mafia of A-city is very dangerous despite how civil they all look”

“You don’t have to tell me twice. But I think he’s a good guy”

“Ah, he’s handsome eh? Well, I can’t get in the way of true love. However, if anything happens to you again, I won’t tolerate it. You hear me?”

“Loud and clear papa Cheadle”

David chuckled and they continued to talk all the way into the afternoon.

“Dad, I’m taking Joshua with me back to my house”

“Why? I’m an old man in need of company. Let him stay”

“No. You and mum are going on a vacation. I paid for it myself. Better go pack up, it expires tomorrow”

“Eh? Why?”

“Because I love you both. It’s to London and it’s very expensive. I’ll be going now. Love you, bye”

Giselle kissed her father on the cheek, took the hand of her younger brother and left her family home. When she got home, Gabrielle was waiting at the door with a big bag.

“Gaby!” Joshua happily yelled and jumped on his older sister.

“Hey Cookie Monster. How’s it going?”

“I’m feeling great. Gigi said I’m going to stay with her for as long as I want”

“Sweet! I’m staying here too”

“Eh? Why?” Giselle asked, surprised.

“To keep an eye on you”

“Liar! It’s because my neighborhood has an abundance of handsome men, isn’t it?”

“Is it wrong to admire the good things of life? And besides, don’t say that in front of Joshua. He’s still a kid”

Gabrielle covered his ears while he just giggled.

“You guys do whatever you want. Let’s go shopping after we unpack”

“Yay!” The two replies with much enthusiasm. Giselle unlocked the door and the three siblings entered the house.

Giselle helps Joshua offload his clothes and other properties in her room before picking out an outfit to wear to the supermarket. Gabrielle and Joshua are ready by that time and they set out. The two were surprised to see her take the black Benz instead of her normal car.

“When did you change your car?”

“Not too long ago. Let’s go”
