CHAPTER 29

Giselle found herself in a corridor. It was one that was awfully familiar to her. She grew up there. Confused, she walked to the end of the corridor and found her mother’s study. She opened it and instead of finding her mother on the chair, she saw Adrien sitting there.

“You, what are you doing in my house?”

“You have such a beautiful house, Miss Cheadle. It would be fun to blow it up”

“Oh don’t you dare…..”

“Too late”

A loud boom sounded behind her and the whole place was soon engulfed in flames. She rushed forward to find her family, Adrien’s laughter sounding behind her like a haunting melody. It was hot and stuffy yet she had to find her family.

She rushed to the lower floor and soon found them, a pile of bodies, charred and long dead. She fell to her knees and held the corpse closest to her, Joshua’s.

“No…..no, no, no, no, no…..This can’t be happening! Joshua?! Gabrielle?! Mum?! Dad?! Open your eyes! No! You can’t die! You can’t leave me!”

“NO!!”

With a shout, Giselle woke up. Her whole body was drenched in cold sweat although the room was very cold. She looked beside her to see Joshua sleeping soundly and smiled warily.

“You’re fine. Oh thank God”

A tear slid down her cheek and she wiped it away in a daze.

“Eh? Why am I crying? Why won’t the tears stop falling? Why?” Her voice broke and her words turned to sobs. She eventually ended up crying herself back to sleep.

When she woke up the next day, her eyes hurt. She washed them with water but still discovered they were swollen after looking in the mirror.

“Gigi, why do you have panda eyes?”

“I had a hard time falling asleep. Do you have anything to do today?” Gislle answered with a yawn.

“I have to show up at work or those incompetents would ruin the project I’m working on. Do you need me to do something?”

“Not really. I’m taking Jay to the hospital today and I wanted to know if you would come along”

“It’s sad but I can’t come. I would be back late. I have a date today”

“Blind date?”

“Yeah. wish me luck”

“Hope it fails. You’re abandoning your little brother for some guy you haven’t met yet”

“AH Giselle! You don’t need both of us to go, right?”

“Yeah whatever”

“Giselle!”

“Gaby, what’s wrong? Why are you screaming like that?” Joshua asked, confused.

“Big sister’s being mean”

“Aww, sorry”

“Hey! Don’t mock me brat!”

“Hehehehehe”

“Come back here!”

Giselle shook her head and warned them not to break anything as they chased each other around the house.

After breakfast, they get ready and head in their different directions. Giselle gave her car keys to Gabrielle and took Joshua to the hospital. The drive to the hospital took an hour and the bored Joshua almost ran out of the car when she parked.

She chuckled and walked up to the front desk to talk to the nurses there about the appointment.

“Hello there. I’m Giselle Cheadle and I have an appointment for my brother, Joshua Cheadle”

The nurse said she would help her check but she noticed she was being looked at a funny way. Joshua was eighteen years her junior and they had a striking resemblance. For those who didn’t know them, they would think she was lying about him being her brother. She laughed and pulled him to sit while they waited.

“Hey Jay, this is going to take a while so you can just do whatever till you’re called. Don’t go too far though. Yesterday you almost gave me a heart attack”

“Okay!”
