“Hi, I’m Dr. Lynn Dober. I was told that you need a doctor to monitor your brother’s condition”

“Yes. Nice to meet you Dr. Dober. I’m Giselle Cheadle. This is Joshua”

“You can call me Jay. Right, Gigi?”

“Yes, of course”

“Miss Cheadle, can we talk outside?”

“Sure. I’ll be right back Jay. Stay put and call for me if you feel funny”

“Yes yes”

The two women stepped out.

“Miss Cheadle, I don’t want you to be offended with the question I’m about to ask but….”

“You want to ask if Joshua’s my kid. He’s not. He’s actually my brother. My mum had him late by IVF. If you need proof, you can contact the hospital where we did the IVF and where he was born. Need anything else?”

“Are you the one filling in for him as his guardian?”

“Yes. My parents are currently out of the country and he’s staying with me for now”

“Okay. Follow me and let’s complete the registration process. I charge quite high”

“As long as my brother’s condition can be managed, I would do whatever it takes”

“Don’t you have a family hospital?”

“We do but I would prefer here. You are good at what you do, right?”

“Of course. Let’s proceed”

They took a while but they finally finished up at the hospital. Dr. Dober taught them how to administer the inhaler and what to do during emergencies. Giselle could finally put her mind at ease concerning Joshua’s health.

“Gigi, you look tired”

“I’m just relieved Jay. I was so scared when I heard what happened to you. Now that I know it’s not serious, I can finally be at ease”

“Why so serious? It’s not like you’re my mum”

“I’m your big sister. I'm practically your mum at this point. I love you little man and I would do anything to protect you. Keep that in mind”

“Stop treating me like a kid, I’m already nine”

“I know that. I was once nine too. You have no idea how lucky you are to have two big sisters spoil you as much as we do”

Joshua knew exactly how lucky he was. He was a smart boy. Growing up, he might not have seen it but the more he thought, the more he understood. Giselle and Gabrielle treasure him, especially Giselle. 

His sisters just straight up ignore everyone else, including their parents but when it came to him, they were highly attentive. Which was why when he heard by mistake what had happened to Giselle, he was very upset. But he was just a child. What could he do?

Giselle’s phone rang at that moment and when she saw who it was, she picked it up immediately.

“Hey”

“Hello Adam, it’s been a while”

It truly had. Ever since Adam dropped off the car for her two months prior, they hadn’t seen or spoken to each other once. It impressed Giselle herself and she knew he must’ve been taking his therapy seriously. She just wasn’t sure if it was the same for the whole family. 

“It has, hun? How have you been?”

“Been good”

“I want to ask if you’re available tonight. I want to take you out to dinner”

“Well, I’m babysitting right now so I’m not sure if I can make it”

“Hey! I’m not a baby! Besides, you asked me to come along” Joshua protested.

“Shush you” 

The shock on Adam was massive. There was a child with Giselle. It could be hers. 

“Hello? Are you still there?”

“Yes sorry. It’s okay, you can bring the child too. It’s just a casual dinner”

“Where are we going then?”

“How about we visit Yuri’s restaurant then? I’m sure she would be glad to see you”

“Okay. What time?”

“By 5 should do. I’ll come to pick you up”

“We’ll be waiting”
