CHAPTER 46

“Boss, we’re under attack!”

“So? I’m incredibly busy right now so I would like it if you didn’t bother me! Go handle it yourself and make sure no one comes around here” Christopher barks angrily.

“Yes boss!!”

The grunts run out of the room, leaving Christopher, Samuel, Catherine, and Oscar in the room.

“So, my dear brother, are you ready to sign the document?”

“Nope”

“Your family is crumbling apart piece by piece. Your children are completely helpless and stupid. Can you believe they made Adrien the new head? Well, I’ve always known that boy was like me, Hahahaha!”

“And?”

“Since you’re my little brother, I’d let you go out with dignity. Just sign the handover and you and your family would get to live a peaceful life in exile”

“Hmm......I still refuse”

“You....!!”

Christopher held Samuel by the chin and punched him in rage. Samuel groaned and spat out blood, his nose broken. Christopher sneered and released him.

“You look so pathetic and yet you still refuse”

“Well, it’s because I have my pride. You do not deserve to be the family head. You’ve always been a rouge, someone who did as he pleased and yet you like to stick to your hypocrisy and a false sense of responsibility. If you were truly qualified, you would’ve recognized that the rainbow doors have special rules.

Like how you’re not supposed to hit people in the green room. Violating tradition and rules for your own gain is something you would do over and over again. I’d rather keep it from you before you destroy the work of our ancestors”

“Look at you, a worn old man talking about responsibility and pride. You’ve always been a weakling. It’ll be my great pleasure to get rid of you”

“Ah, big brother, you’ve always been stupid. How could you not see the knife that is glaringly being pointed at your back?”

“What?! What the hell are you talking about?!”

“That boy over there, that’s the Robin Ripper, right? The one who murders powerful people just for the fun of it. Is that the kind of person you’re working with? Did prison make you dull or is it old age?”

“Shut up! I would always trust my daughter’s decision over your pathetic efforts of distraction”

“The same daughter that has such a twisted personality and a tendency to act out? You have such low expectations, brother”

“Shut up!!”

Christopher pulled out a gun and shot the wall right beside Samuel’s war. The latter‘s ears rang.

“I’m asking with civility right now. Sign the document” Christopher said, his breathing a little heavy.

“I refuse”

“Fine! Die then!”

A loud explosion sounded and the green door fell off its hinges. When the smoke cleared, Amelia, Adam, and a bunch of armed grunts were standing there.

“Wow, who would’ve thought she would have something like this? Where did she even get it?” Amelia said, amazed. The damage was only on the door and it didn’t even affect the area around it.

“Right? Adrien would kill for something like this” Adam commented, whistling.

“I think that’s why she didn’t allow him to come along. She doesn’t really like him”

“Yeah, that’s right” Adam replies, sheepish.

“Who’s there?!” Christopher called out, alarmed. He pointed his gun at the entrance but soon noticed a multitudes of red dots on his body. There was even one faint one that looked like it was coming from afar. It was definitely a sniper.

“Well, hello Uncle Chris. Do you like our version of a reunion?” Amelia greeted with a smirk.

“W-What? How did this happen?”

“You let your guard down, just like a certain someone predicted. Now, Adam, go get our father”

“Okay sis”

Adam moves into the room and untied his father. He lifted him and carried him out of the place.

“I’m sorry we were late, father”

“Better late than never, eh?”

“So, what should we do with these three? What do you suggest, father?” Amelia said, pointing a gun at Catherine.

“We’ll handle Chris and Catherine. As for the Robin ripper, hand him over the government”

“Good choice. They won’t be too demanding when we do. Guys, round them up. We’re going to have a little public execution”

“Yes ma’am!!”

While walking through their base, Catherine and Christopher saw the damage that had been caused by the two siblings. Their forces had been totally subdued and destroyed by the siblings. All their major players had also been captured and would be executed alongside them.

Christopher looked at Adam. If it wasn’t for him, he would’ve been killed the first time instead of being sent to Jail. He remembered how much the young Adam begged and suffered just for his family to be spared. He even took good care of Catherine while he was in jail. He was better than his actual son.

“Adam” Christopher said as he stopped walking.

“What is it, Uncle Chris?” Adam asked with a sad smile.

“You’re a good kid. I’m sorry it had to end this way. You did so much for us and yet, this is how we repay you. I’m truly sorry”

“It’s nothing. You can die easy now, Uncle Chris. I’m going to make sure that Catherine would live and get the care she deserves”

“You still think she’s a good person?”

“She’s just supporting her father like any good child would. I would do the same if I were her”

AUTHOR'S NOTE:
Let's face it, Adam is a gullible, easily manipulated man. Well, sometimes.
